Eye Lift (Blepharoplasty)
THE PREOPERATIVE FEATURES
- Comments about looking older, sad, or tired.
- Excess skin, hooding, wrinkles, folds, heaviness, and
inability to apply makeup to the upper eyelids.
- Excess skin, wrinkles, bags or puffiness to the lower
eyelids.
- Sagging, drooping or "hound dog" look to the
corners of the eyes.
- Occasional difficulty with vision when looking upward.
THE PROCEDURE
- MAC anesthesia is used and it takes about 90
minutes for both eyes.
- In the upper eyelid, an incision is made in the natural
crease. Excess skin and fat are removed.
- In the lower eyelid, the incision is made inside the
lower eyelid or below the inside edge of the eyelid. Excess
skin and fat are removed.
- The muscles are tightened or lifted.
THE RECOVERY
- You can go home after several hours.
- Minimal pain is mostly gone by the second
or third day and easily controlled by medications.
- Swelling is mild to moderate and peaks at
two days after then disappears rapidly over the next three weeks.
- Minimal bruising which is maximized at two
days then disappears rapidly by three to five days.
- Able to apply make-up in seven days and comfortably
appear in public at that time.
- Resume many activities within the first week,
and most by at least three weeks.
- Stitches removed six days post op.
- Off of work for three to four days.
THE RESULT
- Very natural, rested, younger appearance.
- Better vision and no more heaviness or discomfort
to the eyelids.
- Natural and presentable appearance in the
first week that just gets better over the next three to six months.
