Midfacelift (Cheek Lift)
THE PREOPERATIVE FEATURES
- Hollow under eye area with a deepening of the tear
trough.
- “Falling” cheeks, resulting in hollowness
of the central face, developing jowls, and increased laugh
lines.
- Deepening of the nasolabial folds due to downward
progression of cheeks and skin.
- Loss of the high cheekboned look of youth.
- Desire for a more youthful look, with clearer definition
of facial features.
THE PROCEDURE
- Three incisions are used.
- One incision is inside the mouth, to release the
tissue from the malar eminence (cheekbone), which is to
be lifted.
- The second incision is below each eye, directly
under the eyelashes.
- The third incision is within the temporal hairline.
This incision is used to fixate the lifted tissue to the
deeper fascia.
- All of the incisions are extremely esthetic and
well hidden.
- Lasts about 1 hour
THE RECOVERY
- You can go home after several hours.
- You can shower on the day after surgery.
- No drains are used.
- Pain is minimal, easily controlled with medication,
and last for two to three days
- Moderate swelling in the midface area, resolving
in three to four weeks
- May wear makeup in three to five days, and appear in public,
if desired.
- Resume minimal activities within the first week,
and all after two weeks.
- Stitches removed at five to seven days.
- Off of work for one week
THE RESULT
- More clearly defined cheek area.
- Smoothing and reduction of the nasolabial folds
- A more youthful, refreshed lower eyelid/cheek area
- Softening of tear trough deformity
- A more youthful look with clearer definition of
facial features, especially in the cheek area, which continues
to improve in the next six months.
