Scar Revision and Removal Large pores, split pores, ice pick scars, atrophic scars,
hypertrophic scars, keloids, acne scars
THE TYPICAL PATIENT
- Desire for smoother, flatter, cleaner looking, less
irregular skin surface.
- Helps to reduce large pores, acne scars and burn scars.
- Also helps to even skin color and skin tone and remove
spots and blotches.
THE OPTIONS FOR TREATMENT
- Topical Treatments consists of silicone gel pads, Retin-A,
hydroquinone and Bleachezze.
- Intralesional Steroids. This is also mostly for keloids
and hypertrophic scars and consists of injections of steroids
into the usually thick, red, raised scars.
- Chemical Peels. This may be helpful to remove upper
layers of skin and the scars contained therein.
- Surgery. This consists of simple excisions, shaving
lesions, surgical revisions, punch excisions (1-4mm),
punch and suture, punch and elevation, punch float, punch
and graft, Z-plasties, or other surgical techniques.
- Soft Tissue Injectables. These are often extremely
effective and include Artecoll, Collagen, Restylane, Radiance,
and Perlane.
- Cool Touch Laser II. A laser treatment with no down
time. It requires at least 3 treatments done 4 weeks apart.
Helps your body to reproduce it’s own natural collagen.
THE PROCEDURE
- Anesthesia is given by application of a cream on the
surface or an injection of local anesthetic.
- There are no dressings and you can resume all normal
activities immediately.
THE RECOVERY
- You can return to all activities immediately.
- There are no unsightly scars or redness. You can cover
the treated area with makeup immediately.
- There are usually no stitches, but if they are needed,
they are removed at seven days.
- No need to be off work.
